Noor Box Rocks!

SubhanAllah I happen to be on Facebook and I saw this page called Noor Box ! I was instantly in love with this awesome educational tool! This month the theme is the bee!! Our son T2 is known as The Bee and loves to learn about bees Alhamdulilah We received our bee theme Noor Box and needless to say, there were excited faces (not including sleeping T5- who missed the action)

The children and I talked about what is responsibility and how we can bee more responsible at home and the masjid. Each child took a turn writing on the chart on what they can do. Also in their box there was stickers they could place on the flowers for every responsible thing they do each day. MashaAllah Alhamdulilah my children rushed towards doing responsible task and I was truly impressed!
Just a side note, if you have more than one child you can purchase a sibling kit for 8.00 Alhamdulilah.

What's in the Noor Box?

"Each month your child will receive a box filled with projects, activities, and / or storie…

Remember Who Your Husband Is

On the eve of our 9th year anniversary, I'm doing a lot of reflecting. I saw a blog post entitled "Remember Who Your Husband Is." and the title stood out to me but in a different way so I decided to write my own post. I'm reflecting on nine years of marriage and who my husband is.

So who is he?

Lets remember ..

He is a gift from Allah.

Allah blessed me with him and it is my great honor to take care of my gift.
He is not to be abused, mistreated, and taken for granted. Allah has put us together and  for that I'm thankful Alhamdulilah. I'm here to assist him in the best way possible. Allah did not burden me with him, He did not curse me, but what He did do is bless me Alhamdulilah! When you know you are blessed you show gratitude!

He is the leader of our home.

Not only did Allah send me this gift. He also put me under his leadership. In remembering who he is, we must remember and respect his position of leadership. We should always pray that Allah is constantl…

As salamu alaykum To The Struggling Wife

As salamu alaykum to The Struggling wife....

You are the heart of the home. You are his support, his cheerleader, and he needs you to be by his side. Do you know how important you are to him and to your home?

You are worth more than you know. It may not be said often, but without you... Life would be a little more difficult.

I know you're struggling right now to be a better wife and I know you want to do better. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Keep asking Allah to guide you in becoming a better wife. Realize that you have a lot of worth and your husband knows it, he married you, he knew you were the woman who could make his life better.

Write down what you can do to make your marriage better and focus on that daily. He put you with this man, that you love, that you decided to marry. You made a commitment, and you said "I am his committed helper." so keep going! Yes it's not always easy, sometimes you want to leave... But you are a strong, praying woman. …

Working With My Hands

If you haven't heard, we are expecting our 7th blessing!

Alhamdulilah we are super excited and each pregnancy always motivates my homemaking. One pregnancy got me into baking bread, the other into knitting, and so on... This time I'm spinning wool and still knitting alhamdulilah!!

Isn't it amazing what we are blessed to do with our hands!? We can use to do so much in our home! Let us not take for granted this gift from Allah. And let's use our gift to bless others.

The children also had the experience to help prepare the wool for spinning.  They thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Are you using your hands to help, build, and be of service? I get so much joy gifting someone homemade jam and handmade items. It takes time and love that a store cannot produce. I'm excited to see how the baby shoes turn out.
Last year I knitted shoes that I will pass down to our next little one inshaAllah... Here's our son, one year later with his shoes on:

Truly Answering His Call

What is the call? The call has been described as, doing what is meant for you.

This could be a number of things!

Alhamdulilah I believe I'm being called to serve my community in various ways. My herbalist and aromatherapist training is to be used to serve others and alhamdulilah I believe homemaking is a calling that we must answer.

No, We can't hang up, disconnect and ignore the call. Its time to answer, reconnect, and act, with a renewed purpose.

He put us here, in our home. He blessed us with the children who we see every day, He gave us a spouse to help and love. And He knows what He is doing... He chose you to take care of these gifts and for this purpose, we should feel honor and appreciation SubhanAllah.

Answer the call!

You can truly begin to answer the call by telling yourself, you can do this! He gives you just what you need, He knows what you can handle. And as soon as you realize that you can handle it, the sooner you'll have a better handle of your home ;)

Marriage Is Like A Garden

Today we went into the yard and was super excited to begin starting our garden.

Did I tell you all that, my husband and I are both interns for a master gardener/herbalist/permaculture teacher? Well alhamdulilah we are learning so much from the experience. We started putting the lessons and hands on work into practice in our own home.  Alhamdulilah it was so good to teach the children as we worked together on it. It was another way to reinforce what we are learning. Want to see my class pictures? Here:

Putting together a garden bed. Learned sheet mulching.
Harvested cornflower. Pretty cool right? MashaAllah it has been a wealth of information. My husband and I rush to each other to share what we learned each class. We also get to eat some pretty delicious harvested rainbow Swiss chard mashaAllah yummy.
We learned that gardens take loving work. Properly preparing the soil, watering, nurturing and dedication SubhanAllah you reap awesome results when you do it right. Marriage is the same…

Traditional Muslimah Doula

Truly He is the best of planners! I'm always amazed at how he opens doors, I didn't know existed. I spent four days with my herbalist and aromatherapist teacher. It was awesome! Allah bless my husband for his support and making sure I can do my studies and gain more hands on experience.

What's happening at the Rahim home?
Well!!! I'm a certified aromatherapist and herbalist Alhamdulilah yay!!!!! So we started our home business. Making teas, tonics, tincture, salves, aromatherapy products etc etc and it's been amazing mashaAllah!!!

I thought this was it for now, but Allah showed me an additional path to take. I started training to be a Doula! Interesting because I blog about service and when you read what the Greek word Doula means, it's kinda like wow hey, this fits !!! I walked away from the four day classes training to specialize in three things:
Doula
Postpartum Doula
and using aromatherapy in pregnancy, labor and postpartum

SubhanAllah!!!!! My husband is to…

Once Upon A Eid.... at the home of Team Rahim!

It's just so awesome inshaAllah gives us just what we need, when we need it.
And with Once Upon A Eid, the timing could not have been more perfect!
We were wondering about how we would decorate this year, and we were blessed with the opportunity to review these wonderful decorations from a beautiful online store called Once Upon A Eid! The website is here!

It's so important that we get our children excited about the blessed month of Ramadan. Before decorating we talked about what Ramadan means and why it's so important.
The boys, my husband and I ..opened the box together and got super excited ! Wrapped beautifully, just enhanced our Ramadan decorating excitement mashaAllah alhamdulilah! I'm really thankful we were blessed with this opportunity to review such a great way to bring extra excitement in our home.
Why is decorating important?
1.) we are making memories 2.) getting the children involved at home 3.) showing them that because they aren't fasting, doesn…

Medicinal Homemaking

Alhamdulilah I have been taking my herbalist and aromatherapy classes.
Its been such a blessing to teach the child healthy alternatives to take care of yourself.
We have been making medicinal oils that have been really working for us, by His permission always!

One of the blessings in homemaking is that we are constantly learning and teaching our children. Pursuing knowledge should never stop because we have children... It should increase! How can our children learn and be passed down great traditions if we are not learning them first?
The children have been getting to know herbs and there benefits.

MashaAllah this is something we are doing as a family. He has blessed us with edible medicinal plants in our backyard alhamdulilah!

Our 6 yr old, made eucalyptus oil with me alhamdulilah and it was not only a learning experience but bonding too :)

Its part of our service to properly take care of our families alhamdulilah..  Sometimes that includes staying up long night with coughs, fevers,…

Focusing on Him in Our Daily Homemaking

As salamu alaykum!

I feel so motivated and inspired to be back on the blog. Allah is so great and so merciful! We should constantly keep Him in the focus of our daily homemaking! InshaAllah here are a few ways we can do that!

1.) Read His Book
The Quran is full of motivation, inspiration and His message for how he wants us to live. Take time to read His words daily to maintain that connection and find the ease He says you will have with His remembrance.

2.) Read The Prophet's Sunnah
He salAllahu alayhi wa salam is beloved to Allah. What did he do in his life that we can implement in our daily lives, to help keep our hearts and minds on Allah. Fasting, making the night prayer... Praying for our families, communities, and remember a virtuous quality in homemaking is being in constant prayer, so the night time prayer is a peaceful time to focus on Him.

3.) Dhikr as you work-
Make more effort to include more words, praising and glorifying Him! It can't hurt to add more SubhanAllah…
